about me
I consider myself an artist, first and foremost, but, as I've gotten older, my focus has become creativity of thought within social justice and civic engagement. My university studies led me to a course in Public Policy, and ever since, the core of my professional career lies in a deep commitment to public policy, civil rights protections, and addressing systemic inequities.
After having a small photography business for 7 years, I realized my heart needed more than portrait sessions in the Rocky Mountains, and so I began engaging with documentary film, local journalism, and storytelling with a visual medium. My experience as a photographer strengthened my ability to contribute to local storytelling practices, and transformed to asking how I could contribute to the world outside of only visual mediums.
Now, I work as a policy researcher, analyst, and media specialist, while honing my artistic skills in specific projects that call to me.

artist statement
I am a product of my environment - an artist who grew up in Boulder, Colorado. Although a town associated with an image of wealth, high property taxes, the highest concentration of PhD's in the country, it is my small life with my mother and grandmother that I think of in my childhood duplex apartment. Conversations over dinner consisting of the various new information on how to be the healthiest, how to survive under autoimmune conditions and living with the effects of poor environmental housing standards. Or, in a lighter, more creative fashion, the many artists of the present and past.
With age blossomed a deep excitement for the exploration of pop-culture, art, fashion, music, and film. Months spent obsessing over cinematographers of our time informed my approach to travel photography - the medium I fell in love with, a place where I could express my appreciation for the everyday, and find silver linings through difficult circumstances. An interest that brought me to my Bachelor's of Arts degree in Media Studies, an emerging field bridging analysis from sociology, psychology, anthropology, and the humanties to understand today's media landscape.
